The active tripeptide tail of alpha-MSH.
KPV is a tripeptide corresponding to the C-terminal sequence (lysine-proline-valine) of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Researchers isolated this fragment after observing that much of α-MSH's anti-inflammatory activity appeared to reside in its terminal residues rather than the full peptide.
Because it lacks the melanocortin core, KPV is investigated for anti-inflammatory signaling that appears largely independent of pigmentation pathways, including studies of intracellular transport and cytokine modulation in cellular models.
CellTheory's KPV is manufactured as a lyophilized research tripeptide, characterized by HPLC and mass spectrometry, and accompanied by a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis.
